What Happens When Basic Writers come to College?

1.) One benefit of a basic college student drafting papers using their own world view is having other people of our generation understand them. Many people in our generation do not attend college, therefore they do not get the higher education that we do. They also do not seem to care as much about what's going on in the world because they're not having to reflect on it daily like college students. If we could draft papers in a way that is comfortable to us, maybe we could reach out to our generation. We could also make it more interesting than just writing in Standard English. And, college students today will be running the world tomorrow, so why not let them write in a way that gets the attention of others in this generation?

2.) Personally, I don't think that she is right at all. My life in school and my life outside of school are two complete opposites. I handle both very well and I may have conflict sometimes, but it is never something that I can't deal with. Sometimes we will learn things in classes that we may not agree with outside of class, but if that is what the professor tells you is right or what they believe, then you learn to deal with it during class. There will always be things we don't agree on with someone and that's life, but we learn to accept that. If you can't, then you might have a very hard life ahead of you.

  1. 1.) I agree with you in all aspects. I also think that drafting papers from our own view gives us more creativity and confidence in our writing. When we write from our own view, we enjoy writing a lot more.

2.) I've always tried to seperate my outside life and school life. By doing this, it has made my life alot easier. As you said, they may conflict, but I've always been able to get it under control.

  3. 1. Maybe that is true, by appealing our audience, we can change the world. Adding the new to the old. Sometimes change is good.

    2. All I can say is... You go girl!

  4. I agree with you that if we are allowed to draft using our own views people of our generation might have a better inderstanding. I agree because a it of people aren't attending college and won't learn standard English.

  5. Also, even if we decide to write the way we want to, would the adult take our work into consideration? Or would the older generation would find this unacceptable?
